Battle of Towton Exhibition, Merchant Adventurers Hall 7th Feb to 22nd March

February and March are often the quietest time and good value for a break in Monkbridge Court.  Enjoy museums and exhibitons in and around York away from the school holidays.

The Battle of Towton is chronicled as the largest and bloodiest battle ever fought on English soil. The brutal battle which was fought during a snowstorm on 29th March 1461 left 26,000 soldiers dead and thousands more injured.

This York Archaeological Trust exhibition formally at the Royal Gateway of Micklegate Bar in York tells the fascinating and often tragic story of the infamous battle and its role in the changing politics of the country and its bloody impact on those who fought that day.

The exhibition also features a film presented by well known historian, Terry Deary as well as new information on what the Mistery of Mercers (as the Merchant Adventurers were known during this period) were doing during this time of conflict.
